Health Support Systems

Superior Health Support Systems (SHSS) is a nonprofit corporation providing quality, affordable medical care for residents in Chippewa and Mackinac counties. SHSS operates five state-licensed properties: Hearthside Assisted Living, Merlin Home, Pennington Home, Harbor View Assisted Living, and the White-Wiles home. These facilities provide personalized care, comfortable living and exceptional quality of life for each resident.

At each of these locations, individualized care plans are carried out by a licensed nurse and personal care givers assure that residents get the assistance they need while maintaining as much independence as possible. A full-time activities director ensures a wide variety of social activities and regular outings to area events for residents at all SHSS homes.

Superior Health Support Systems strives to address the needs of all who seek a place to call home, which is why we accept VA and Long Term Care insurance, private pay, and Medicaid Social Security. These are the only assisted living facilities in the Eastern Upper Peninsula to accept Medicaid Social Security.
